Yesterday I somehow got into a bitchy mood, and spent most of the day after work playing Windwaker and organizing MP3’s. And my CD’s came!! *__* So much LoZ love and joy. But then I had terrible insomnia, so today I look like Faust minus hot. We seem to be watching X2, though, and that is nice. I can’t decide whether that is a greater or less weird contrast to Jane Austen. And now no mas entry.

My theory about the curse: Heero and Duo are cursed because the yara figured out that Duo lied to her. I’m also thinking that the statues are Alonzo and Julia’s sister, and that the woman that moves around is actually Julia.
It was good to see Quatre starting to question why Trowa means so much to him. He seems to be one step closer (albeit a baby step) to understanding his true feelings.
Trust me, I’ll be here next Friday. This story is the best part about Fridays. :-)
I’m very glad you’re still liking the story so much — and still theorizing! I do hope everything will click once all the answers come out.
Quatre’s problem with understanding his true feelings (apart from not having been exposed to the concept of homosexuality) is that he’s been with Trowa since they were children. It’s harder to recognize romantic feelings in that sort of circumstance. But he’ll get there :D
The angst. it is mighty. I might have two words for it: gut. wrenching. And then the Beast saying “I want this pain.” damn, girl!
To add my theories about the curse: to be free of it, all Heero and Duo must do is forget one another. Easy peasy! And probably totally wrong, but…it seemed plausible as I read this chapter. I agree with Sharon about the lying part, too, since it got so much page space.
I wonder if it truly was Julia that cursed them, however. She’s the one that got doubly wronged (although I can’t say I *really* fault Alonzo all that much for moving on after his finacee died OR that it was his sister…IRL, there’s a precedent for a sibling to take the place of her dead sister (I’ve only heard of sisters taking sisters’ places), isn’t there? Seems totally whack to my sensibilities, but it would be an easy way to fill the gap left by the dead woman.
And then I got to thinking…did Trowa get sick because he admitted to someone ELSE that he loves Quatre? The curse that is affecting the Beast (if it is indeed a mash up of Heero and Duo and is working to split them up…Julia wants Heero for her own and can only GET him if he totally forgets Duo and Duo totally forgets him to *let* him go be with her…and wouldn’t it be awesome foreshadowing if his lock of braid comes back into play? Of course, she’s going after HIM because he lied and what better way to make him suffer than separate him from his lover? right? right.) could also be affecting Trowa…albeit in a slightly different manner.
Finally…that beast has sexy legs and based on that picture, if T and Q had trouble determining sex (based on what I see in that picture), they either didn’t look hard enough or it was too dark XDDDD
I was pretty pleased with the angst in this chapter ^__^
Yeah, I don’t see anything wrong with Alonzo marrying Julia’s sister. Julia might not be so lenient, however!
I’m glad you like the Beast’s legs. To me it looks like he’s wearing tights or something, and I’m not entirely satisfied with that picture, but whatever XD
Thanks for your comments!
I agree with Sharon on all her comments. I can’t wait to read the next chapter. Thanks for sharing. *^_^*
Glad you liked! Thanks for reading ^__^
Okay, last chapter (so far)! Yay! What fun I’ve had today. *smile* I wonder if I can keep it to one comment. *laugh*
First of all: what a striking picture. I’m now quite worried for the Beast and I have no idea what happened to him yet. It just looks horribly painful in that picture.
Oh, how horrible for Quatre and Beast! Not know what Trowa’s illness is or how to treat it must have been so frustrating and scary – they had no control over the situation at all.
Hmm, I wonder why Quatre finds the telescope so fascinating? Is it just a new interest that he would have enjoyed previously if he’d known about it? Whoa, it has been ‘months’ since Trowa’s illness and he’s still suffering from occasional headaches and fuzziness? That’s not really reassuring.
At least Quatre is enjoying looking at the stars and tracking the heavens with the charts. *smile*
Ohhh. Poor Beast. So different from his usual bouncy, energetic night-time personality. I’m surprised that Beast can even enter the sleeping courtyard, I must have thought he was forbidden from going there. (I have no idea where I got that thought from, though.)
Oh, no! He’s hurting himself! *shiver* Oh, I feel so bad for the Beast here, he’s obviously hurting physically and emotionally and missing Heero so bad (it’s a really good case for the Beast being Duo, actually). Enough that he was willing to injure himself like that just to be able to nuzzle up to Heero, even though Heero is in an enchanted sleep and can’t possibly respond.
Aw, man… all these unanswered questions. They’re driving me (and Quatre) crazy. And I feel really bad for the Beast. But hey, Quatre has a good theory, too. I just don’t have enough information yet to figure anything out!
And back to Heero and Duo already, yay! Whoa, wait… Duo was lying?? He made it all up? *is glued to the screen* Dude, totally unexpected! Alonzo didn’t die in grief over Julia?? He married her SISTER?? Uh… uh-oh. Is Julia going to find out about this? Or is she already gone and moved on to a peaceful rest? Wow, what a lie Duo told!
*rueful laugh* And Duo feels validated that the Yara thought Heero was a prospective victim? XD That’s quite an interesting twist of logic. I love Heero’s comment: “You feel like our relationship has been… validated… by a murderous undead pond-monster?” *shakes head* It really is weird when you put it like that. XD XD
But any way you phrase it, I’m glad they made it through that situation intact. And I’m glad they didn’t get caught while Duo was lounging around in Heero’s room that night. *nod* That would have erased his victorious feeling in a heartbeat. I find myself hoping that they get to build the house and live together happily for a while before the horrible thing happens to them.
[Totally didn’t make it to just one comment. End Part 1.]
Commence Part 2!
Okay, back to the castle. Awwww, poor Beast. He’s trying to pretend like nothing happened, but of course the guys are going to notice the gaping wounds all over his body!!
I will say that the comment “I was being typically reckless” really put me in mind of the theory that both Heero and Duo are the Beast at different times of the day, because that really sounds like Heero chiding Duo for a reckless action. But on the other hand, it could be that the Beast was trying to brush off his actions and not make Quatre and Trowa any more alarmed. (And I’m starting to wonder if Wufei is in this story at all.)
Ooh, interesting. The Beast wants to feel the pain of the injuries. As a reminder of something, perhaps? In honor of an anniversary or just the person he can’t forget?
It’s interesting that the Beast put the painting in his room instead of in the art gallery or any other place in the castle. It must be a wonderful memory for him when he’s feeling lonely and Quatre and Trowa are not available. And I love Quatre’s comment of “Down here in the dirt and the cold is the perfect place to take your open wounds.” XD XD XD Very true. And Quatre is so great at putting on the guilt to get Beast to cooperate. XD XD
Argh, it is so frustrating that the Beast can’t answer any questions! At least now we can see how much he has to fight against the curse/spell/compulsion to even say a few simple words when trying to explain.
“Three quarters of a year later” – *googly eyes*
I’m not quite sure how Quatre is going to keep his resolve to not ask questions or wonder about the situation anymore, but… it’s a noble thought. He gets points for trying. *smile*
And the Beast is a bit grumpy with them after letting them bandage him up – maybe he’s embarrassed? Or he just wants to be alone.
Haha! Did I call it or did I call it! *laugh* The woman is the same as one of the statues. (Of course, I thought her other appearance was the male statue, but… I guess I’m half right. XD XD XD) And she is staring at the male statue… I wonder who these people are and what their story is? We haven’t had any clues about them (or at least, anything that identifies who they are). So… are they ghosts? Or are they real people? The world may never know! XD (Yeah, ignore me… the cold medicine is kicking in!)
Poor Quatre… I really don’t think he’s going to have great success at the whole “I’m not thinking about it anymore” thing. But at least he still has Trowa with him.
Okay, I’m all caught up!!! *happy dance* But now it is going to be torture until next Friday!! I’m really not sure which reading style I prefer – to wait and read the entire story at once or to be small sections in time intervals. But I’m definitely going to be here on Friday to find out what happens next!!!! *laugh*
And I hope you have a great vacation. *smile*
I have also had fun today watching you catch up! :D
Whoa, it has been ‘months’ since Trowa’s illness and he’s still suffering from occasional headaches and fuzziness? Yes, unfortunately for Trowa. It will go away completely eventually… just not yet.
Yep, Duo was lying. Whether or not I stick to the whole “never lie” thing from canon (something I only half-believe most of the time anyway), Duo and the concept of lying in one form or another still usually go hand-in-hand in my head. He was lying to save Heero, of course!
Quatre is so great at putting on the guilt to get Beast to cooperate. Quatre’s like, “I am going to help you. You don’t want to know the alternative.” And Trowa’s like, “Seriously. Don’t push him.”
You are indeed all caught up now! And, as I said, I’ve had lots of fun watching that process! :D I, too, don’t know whether it’s better for you to have read a bunch of chapters all at once or to get them on a weekly basis… it’s a question that comes up with every story I ever post, and I never have a ready answer XD Anyway, thanks for your comments, as always!!
Quatre is so awesome. *grin* Beast can’t refuse an offer like that. XD XD XD XD
I can’t wait until tomorrow to read the next chapter! The link is right there and active… but it won’t be accessible until tomorrow…. *bounces all over the walls*
What a great chapter! I’m going to refrain from my speculation, mostly because it’s half-baked and hazy, but I am 100% sure that day!beast is Heero, and he was HILARIOUS calling Duo reckless for what he’d done!
I went all warm and fuzzy inside reading Q’s feelings about Trowa. GOD I hope he starts to catch on soon. I love the TQ in this fic, it’s a huge part of why I come back week after week to keep reading!
I am also quite happy that the boys are sharing the bed again, too, because it was horrid when they weren’t!
Can’t wait for the next chapter!
Have a Great Holiday!!
I am quite happy with the Trowa/Quatre in this story… Quatre is so deliciously clueless, and Trowa is so dramatically devoted… it was tons of fun to write. I’m very glad you like it!! And glad you liked the chapter ^__^ Thanks for your comments!
