OK! Here’s (another) new type of productivity log that will hopefully work. These things really aren’t intended just to be author’s notes after the fact; in large part they are supposed to let people know that I’m working and what I’m working on, so nobody fears I’ve died or abandoned stories or pairings.

So, since nothing else seems to do the trick, I’m trying to write down which stories I worked on, and how much I wrote, each day. How long can I keep this up? Oh, probably as long as any other gimmick I’ve tried to get me to post these things.

01/06:

Come to the Valley – 262 words. I haven’t worked on this story since I started people’s giftmonth presents a month and a half ago, and you’ll see I didn’t work on it this week after last Thursday. Still, I’m enjoying the scene so far. I decided to make it from Gral’s point of view, because that seemed fun and also because if I scatter scenes from other characters’ P’sOV throughout the book, it won’t be jarring when Kalkya and Naret each have one near the end. Of course, that worked out just fine in Seeing Red, so… -shrug-

Big bang story – 407 words. I don’t think I’ve mentioned this story at all yet, which just shows how long it’s been since I did a Productivity Log. Yeah, I signed up for a big bang in, I think, August? My story is currently at 15,850 words, so I’ve got nothing to worry about re:minimum length. The deadline for rough drafts is the 31st, though, and I was a little concerned about having all the scenes written by then.

But since I did the math and determined I had just under three days for each scene in order to be done with them on time, I have been racing through the thing. There are still five scenes left, but I’m not even a little bit worried anymore. It is thoroughly enjoyable to write.

Can I be an awful person and say I expect nothing of interest or quality from whatever artist gets assigned to me? Really, I only joined the big bang at all in the hopes of getting at least one person to read the story. Don’t worry: you won’t want to.

Trail of Light – 249. This is one of the giftmonth presents I’m still working on, but at least on this one I had some good, postable (on Patreon) progress before Christmas. It’s been a fun write too, but I keep having to stop it from getting really dark. I resisted inserting a dead horse just yesterday, so congratulate me!

Someday I’m going to write real horror, I swear. Just gotta think of a plot etc. XD

TBoGaH – 177. Oof, here’s another thing I wanted to have done by Christmas, and I only reached linear completion on it today. It’ll be a few more days editing.

It would have helped if I hadn’t restructured the chapter three million times. But this book is always incredibly difficult to write, as I believe I’ve mentioned before. Much as I love it, I know it would go nowhere if my mom weren’t such a fangirl. And it’s a damn good thing I convinced her at first to accept chapters serially, because otherwise it would never have gone anywhere.

Muscular Kittens – 355. Oh, man, you don’t even know about Muscular Kittens because it’s a Patreon reward story. I have been laughing my ass right off and screaming in delight as I’ve written it. It’s in first person present tense, with an extremely strong character voice (Chou’s, in case you’re wondering), and it is fucking gorgeous. I’ve done things in that style before, and I think I’m going to have to shelf it after this one lest it get repetitive. Though nothing can top this Chou. Well. Two dudes can top this Chou, which is what he’s thirsting for. But you know what I mean.

01/07:

Big bang – 699

I can’t remember if I wrote anything else that day and just forgot to record it. I kinda think that was more a drawing and video games day?

01/08:

Big bang – 2531

Or maybe this was the drawing and video games day! See, it’s good to try to keep track of these things!

01/09:

Muscular Kittens – 1298. Oh, did I mention that Chou has managed to sexually fantasize his way into the margins of an E/4 rating on this one??

Trail of Light – 302

TBoGaH – 448. I feel like I worked on this one through an entire football game, because that number is way higher than I usually manage in a day XD

OK, and then I managed to skip two days in a row of logging this stuff? This does not bode well.

01/12:

Muscular Kittens – 578

Trail of Light – 1072. Some of this may have been over the previous two days.

Big bang – 1557

TBoGaH – 523. Like, I am in no way complaining, but how?

01/13 (Today):

Big bang – 1411

TBoGaH – 183

Muscular Kittens – 302

And throughout this week, I’ve done a fair amount of drawing as well. There was a picture I wanted to have done before Christmas, and I got that finished up. How many giftly works of art did I actually finish before Christmas, you ask? Well, my memory is suddenly very bad, but I think the number lay somewhere between 0 and 2. (I did get Watching Over Him done before Christmas, but that didn’t count since I was working on it literally all of last year.)
